The Second-to-Last Chance Ladies League

The Second-to-Last Chance Ladies League by Jones Hope Wooten
In this fast-paced, feel-good comedy, four lifelong friends—Libby Ruth, Deedra, Monette, and Charlie—reunite at Laurelton Oaks, now reimagined as “Occasionally Yours,” an all-purpose event venue. As they dive into running the business together, chaos ensues: Monette navigates yet another wild divorce, Charlie faces a late-blooming midlife crisis, Libby Ruth juggles college with her husband’s unexpected romantic revival, and Deedra battles the controlling former owner who won’t let go.
Over the course of one uproarious year, the women host baby showers, memorials—even a surprise wedding—where everything that can go wrong does. A sequel to Always a Bridesmaid (but hilarious on its own), this Jones Hope Wooten comedy is a celebration of friendship, second chances, and unstoppable Southern charm.
Show dates are: August 15 – 23, 2025

Opening Friday, June 13, 2025: Laughter on the 23rd Floor

Get ready to laugh until it hurts! South City Theatre invites you to experience Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Neil Simon’s fast-paced, semi-autobiographical comedy inspired by his time writing for television legend Sid Caesar. Directed by Clay Boyce, this razor-sharp production runs June 13–21, 2025, and promises a behind-the-scenes look at the chaos, camaraderie, and comic genius of a 1950s TV writing team.

With a cast packed full of talent, this production features David Kimbrough, Steven Ross, Shawn Reese, Kevin Grohoska, Dakota Fowler, Robin Wallace, Holt Thomas, Leah Tkacik, and Thomas Robinson. Together, they bring to life the eccentric, lovable team of writers who juggle jokes, egos, and network executives—often all at once.

Expect rapid-fire wit, clever banter, and heartfelt moments as the characters navigate the highs and lows of working in comedy during a politically tense era. It’s a smart, hilarious tribute to the golden age of television and the minds who made America laugh.

Tickets will go fast for this comedy gem, so don’t miss your chance to join us for an unforgettable evening of theater. Laughter on the 23rd Floor runs June 13–21 at South City Theatre—where the jokes are big, the stakes are high, and the laughter is nonstop!
