Children’s Program

Acting Up! is South City Theatre’s Youth Division.

Our mission is to cultivate confident, imaginative artists who excel in technique and performance while providing a safe space for each student to learn, grow, and make friends.

Our program offers two workshops per year (Spring and Fall), one 2-week summer camp, and special workshops throughout the year.

Classes have finished for our Fall ActingUP! Workshop led by Victoria Boyce. Students worked hard learning the craft of theatre while putting together a production of Matilda Jr. Our Spring Workshop Production, Spaghetti Western, is in session until May, 2026. At the end of these workshops and summer camp, the students come together to give fun and entertaining performances to their audiences.

Victoria Boyce is excited to be working with South City for the second time, having played Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Victoria has been working with children for 15 years. She teaches theater in Moody and Hoover and also does choreography with Mike Bridges at Our Lady of the Valley. Her day job is as a teacher for the private school Valleydale Academy in Hoover grades 1st through 8th . She is looking forward to applying her skills and knowledge to a new group of kids. She wants to thank South City for the opportunity and her parents for always lending a helping hand.

This project is funded in part by the Alabama Support the Arts License Tag Fund.
